My Approach and Services
My approach is trauma-informed, strengths based, person-centered and collaborative. I utilize techniques from multiple practices that would best be suited for the therapeutic goals that we create. I am well-versed in various evidence-based therapeutic approaches consisting of: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). My practice also draws on elements from Existential, Narrative, Psychodynamic and Solution-Focused psychotherapies as well as Mindfulness practices. I am aware that not all modalities or interventions will fit with every individual and thus will use an eclectic approach to create a treatment plan that is conducive to your needs.
As a therapist, I have specific experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Addiction and Substance Use, Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as, life transitions and adjustments. I am also familiar with assessing and treating various clinical symptoms and presentations, which include and are not limited to: Concurrent Disorders, Eating Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders (including Borderline Personality Disorder), stress management, relationship, interpersonal and work issues, loss and grief, anger management, emotional dysregulation and impulsivity, as well as, problematic behaviours (e.g. internet, gambling, sexual).
My clinical skills and services include counselling and psychotherapy, assessment, consultation, provision of evidence-based treatment interventions, group therapy and facilitation, discharge planning, program development and crisis intervention. Resource navigation, case management, and referrals are also a component of my practice. I also provide vocational rehabilitation, career and employment counselling services.
